2019 Puerto Rico Mission Trip

Where: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Trip Dates: July 13 – 21, 2019
Trip cost: $1120. A $500 deposit is due by April 14

We will be working at the Country Club Church of the Nazarene located approximately 2 miles south of San Juan International Airport. The project is rebuilding the children’s area, which was destroyed by Hurricane Maria. We will be constructing walls, installing and finishing drywall, plumbing bathrooms, installing electrical wiring and putting in ceiling tiles. There will also be an afternoon to host a party for the children, play games and do crafts.

Trip Details

Lodging: The church has a 2 story, air-conditioned house with 3 large bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen and dining area. We will be sleeping on cots and air mattresses, and our host sisters will be giving us a taste of Puerto Rican home cooking.

Transportation: The Rev. Dr. Julio Rodriguez is the senior pastor and will be our host, bus driver and tour guide. He is very excited for us to come and he insists that he take us to see some of the areas sites while we are there.

Air Travel: We will be flying out of Flint Airport on Delta Airlines and changing planes in Atlanta. Puerto Rico is a US territory and traveling there is as easy as traveling to Florida, no passports required and no customs.

Vaccinations: Normal vaccinations should be up to date. The CDC website show elevated risks of Hepatitis A and Typhoid. There has also been at least one case of Zika virus reported. Check with your doctor for what vaccinations you may need.

There will be some additional costs such as travel day meals, tourist day meals and souvenirs. The US dollar is the currency of Puerto Rico.
