Panama Day Two

Today began with our team worshiping at the Potrero Grande Church of the Nazarene. This is the church we will be helping to add a kitchen and dining area onto their building. We have learned that by adding this area, they will qualify for a sponsorship and will be able to begin a CDC at this location, feeding many children in their community. It was probably a new experience for most of our team to hear a message preached in two languages at the same time. Pastor Stu brought the message, starting our week long journey with this church by speaking about two nations, two families, two cultures - worshiping and serving ONE God. After church, the members of the church served us a wonderful lunch. Once lunch was over, we loaded up and headed to the Espave Church of the Nazarene. The first mission team from The Naz added the Child Development Center to this facility, three years ago. Since that time their congregation and the CDC have quadrupled in size, what a blessing. While there, some of our students played a pick-up soccer game with a very skilled group of locals, fun was had by all (let's keep Pastor Stu in the pulpit, rather than guarding the soccer goal). Finally, we provided a VBS for the children there, with a lesson in Spanish and crafts, leaving them each with a tooth brush, toothpaste, and a Spanish Bible. It was another very hot day but we all experienced great God moments as we served these two communities in Panama. Tomorrow we'll be sporting red shirts to support the Panama soccer team in the World Cup, while we put in a long day of construction. We continue to covet your prayers for strength and endurance as we serve our Mighty God.
