Panama 2017 - Day 8
Today, for our final day in Panama, we get our "tourist" on and head out for a relaxing day of exploring the history of Old Panama! As we enjoy some time together as a team, there are many reminders throughout the old city that take my mind back to Cuna....Espave.....Playa Chiquita. In the straw market there are women selling goods that are Cuna women. Tucked in the narrow streets we pass by a lonely man who looks like hardship has come his way. A couple of kids invade our group picture...... I wonder, what is their story? Home is calling each of us, and it is time to return and resume life......... as usual? I hope and pray that it is not that way for any of us. This time in Panama with these beautiful people has impacted us deeply and although I can only share my thoughts, I know that many of us, blessed to be here for this mission trip, have the same feelings. God has shown me the magnetic power of His spirit in a person of faith when unobstructed by materialism. He has shown me through these precious little children, that "living in the moment" instead of worrying about tomorrow is not only exhilarating, it is trusting in the one who will take care of my needs without me even asking. Childlike faith is a beautiful, beautiful sight, especially in the midst of poverty. God is moving in the hearts of His people here in Panama, and as He builds their faith, He has called us from The Naz, in Michigan, to pray for them and "build" their communities through giving to building and food programs, sponsoring their children, sending mission teams to put our own hands to the plow with them and cheer them on face-to-face! And because He is a good, good God, He sends each of us home with a life changing experience that is sure to have a ripple effect in our own lives, to God be the glory!
"Live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way. Bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you might have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light." Col. 1:10-12
God bless you and keep you my friends in Panama!
