Panama 2017 - Day 7

Last work day in Playa Chiquita!  Although the church will not be completely done when we leave, they are well on their way to finishing soon thanks to the funds that The Naz has raised to complete it.  Sanding, priming walls inside and out, and getting electricity throughout the building so that they have lighting and power in the kitchen was high on the agenda today.  Lucky for me, spending time with the people of Playa was high on the list too!

Another highlight of the day - Some of us that were on the mission trip last year and sponsored children from Espave were able to meet with the children at a McDonald's close to Playa Chiquita and share lunch with them.  We all felt so blessed that Eli and Pastor Eusebio from Espave would arrange this for us, it was good to laugh, smile and share with these beautiful kids!
Another highlight of this trip was the food!  Eli arranged for us to eat at the Nazarene district office most nights for dinner.  The food was made by some women in the church that took "home cooked meal" to a whole new level!
Many times today the words, "last chance to...." came to mind.
Last chance to walk through this community with a little girl holding my hand like she's known me forever, yet we don't even speak the same language.
Last chance to sit in a circle and play "pato, pato, ganso!" (duck, duck, goose) with kids that play it full on, like I've never played it before, giggling, laughing and enjoying every moment of just being together.
Last chance to work along side some of the hardest workers I've ever met!
Last chance to hear someone pray in another language and feel the power of the Spirit upon them and have no need to understand the words, you can feel them.
Last chance to look into the eyes of these amazing people, children included, that have such joy in spite of so much hardship.
But here is what I have come to know this week, we may be worlds apart for the rest of our earthly lives, but because of our bond in Christ, a day is coming when we WILL speak the same language and pick up right where we left off!
Until then, we will pray for you Playa Chiquita! "We will not stop giving thanks for you, remembering you in our prayers.  We will keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious father, will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation that you all may know him better.  We will pray that the eyes of your hearts will be enlightened so that you will know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for all of you who believe."  Eph. 1:15-19
