I want to share with you some things that are going on in my heart and at your church. I recently felt the Lord assured me that Isaiah 43:19 was a verse I can claim. It says that God is about to do a new thing in our midst. I’m excited about what that will be for me, as well as for our church.
A new thing I have come to believe to be God’s will for our church, is a new vision and new energy that a new pastor can provide. So, after 40 years of pastoring and 31 years as your pastor, I have decided to retire this coming November. You should know the church board has been working on a succession plan and are close to choosing a person to come for an interview. When that choice has been made, and when our members have voted on him, he will work with me for several months to get to know the congregation and the staff. I’ll be making further announcements as that plan comes together.
Folks, these days in my life and in our church can be looked at as scary and uncertain. However, I am choosing to believe that God has given this community this wonderful church facility, with lots of wonderful people ready to serve…please don’t allow these changes to scare you, but rather encourage you of new and exciting things to come. I believe that is God’s promise to us!
Many of you are volunteering from time to time to help your church and the Kingdom. We are going to depend even more on you. If you are not already, we ask that you will step up and volunteer to help your church become a great place to worship and build Christian fellowship. Don’t sit back in the shadows of our church; come--be a part of the exciting growth in our future. I’ll be publishing a list, soon, of what is needed and how you can participate.
I’ll always be so grateful for the privilege of being your pastor – Thank you for the way you’ve supported and prayed for Melanie and me. Great days are ahead for all of us!!!
